Questions, answered.

Can't see yours? Just ask.

How much does a dropped kerb cost in Nottingham?

A new dropped kerb starts from £1,750, which covers the minimum 5-kerb opening (3 flat + 2 tapered kerbs); each additional kerb is £200. Widening an existing kerb costs less. We give free, no-obligation quotes.

Do I need planning permission for a dropped kerb?

For most driveways you need approval from the local highway authority (a Section 184 application), not full planning permission. Planning permission is only needed if the access is onto a classified road or serves two or more dwellings. We check this and handle the application for you.

How long does it take?

Once the council has approved the works, the installation itself usually takes about a day, or two half-days. The approval stage beforehand varies — and we manage that whole process for you.

Do you handle the council application?

Yes. In Nottingham City we manage the entire Section 184 application. In Nottinghamshire, the county’s contractor (Via East Midlands) contacts you for a small fee and a few questions — and we guide you through it.

Are you a council-approved contractor?

Yes — we’re registered and approved with both Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council, and all works are carried out by SWQR-registered, NRSWA-qualified, fully insured installers to full highway specification.

Can I use my own contractor?

Yes — you can appoint your own approved contractor, which is us. We’re registered with both councils to carry out the works to their specification.
